Plant physiology and comparative transcriptomics

Vera Marjorie Velasco is passionate in understanding plant responses to abiotic stressors.  Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biology at University of Toronto doing research on Plant Physiology and Comparative Transcriptomics.  She studies several plant phenotypes and the global molecular profile of Douglas Fir in response to extreme changes in temperature and water supply deficit. It is important that we learn how trees adapt to extreme heat and drought to keep our forests healthy with our changing climate.
