David Montwé

David is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. He has a doctorate from the University of Freiburg, Germany, and completed a postdoc at the University of Alberta, Canada through the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Previous research included identifying drought and frost tolerant Douglas fir and lodgepole pine populations in provenance trials. Within the CoAdapTree project, he is responsible for analyzing Swiss Needle Cast tolerance in breeding populations of Douglas fir through quantitative genetics and molecular techniques. Working with Juergen Ehlting and provincial and federal partners, his intention is to help forests represented by this important timber tree species adapt to the challenge of this emerging pathogen under climate change.
